About the job

We are currently seeking a Installations Engineer (Machine Control) to assist our clients Rental Survey & Laser team in the West Midlands and our customers nationwide. You will be utilising your technical skills by carrying out installations and repairs of 2D and 3D Leica and Trimble Machine Control systems on a variety of construction plant equipment, on our customers’ sites throughout the UK

You will also be responsible for –

  • Calibration of Leica & Trimble machine control equipment
  • Minimising customer downtime of equipment by providing technical site support for our customers and 1st line mechanical phone support
  • Testing, troubleshooting and checking of kit, identifying and repairing any faults or system errors
  • Training operators and engineers on the use of Leica and Trimble Machine Control equipment
  • Generating QA reports and following general practice procedures as outlined by manufacturers, ensuring post installation documentation is completed correctly
  • Establishing site control, installations of GPS Base Stations and localisation of GPS machinery
  • Carrying out site checks using Leica Total Station and Leica GPS Survey equipment
  • Handling data and installing DTM files to machines and preparing and checking customer information using Leica ICON office

ESSENTIAL

  • Have experience with repairing and installing survey equipment, GPS, lasers and total stations – 2D/3D dual GPS/TPS/UTS systems experience
  • Have experience as a plant fitter or auto-electrical/mechanical experience
  • Knowledge of heavy machinery construction equipment and onsite construction experience
  • Ability to follow technical diagrams
  • Have a full, clean manual Driving Licence
  • Be IT literate and customer service focused

DESIRABLE

  • Entry level survey knowledge desirable but we will also provide training
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems is desirable
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including CAN bus on mechanical systems is desirable
